Social Media for e-commerce

How do companies use Instagram or another company of your choosing as a social e-commerce platform?

First, let’s look at the overall percentage of companies using social media in the US between 2019 pre-covid and 2022. The data collected between 2013 and 2022 (Statista 2021) shows that in the United States, companies with more than a hundred employees engage in many types of social media platforms for marketing, video-sharing, podcast, reviews, and more. The technique on how they engage can be either organic or paid.

Figure 1 and two shows the growth in companies’ engagement with social media. Since 2013 employment on social media platforms  has increased by 5.9 % in  2022

Now let’s look at how companies use social media to promote their products. Social media has changed how we relate to products and people. It can influence how we spend our money and which movies and people we like and has a bast of influence on our conscience and un conscience. Companies are always looking for the latest technique to get to their customers. The strategy is a combination of plan data analysis and organic development. Sometimes when you least expect it, your post or campaign can be successful. Statista 2021 published a report on social media marketing and the latest information. In this report, 60% of B2B companies published at least once a week, and 46% of B2B published content several times a week. Figure 5 shows that 92% of B2B uses social media for content marketing, and 94% of B2B also follow the same trend.

After looking at the irrefutable numbers, social media is powerful brand awareness. There are many opportunities ahead, and the strategy is to identify who or what is the latest expert in customer behavior. You can rely on algorithms and influencers. However, understanding young customers is challenging. Chevalier 2021, in his article Social commerce in the United States – statistics & facts, discusses the fast changes in retail and markets and suggests different alternatives that companies should implement to close the gap between product and customer. He advises that companies advertise directly to their influencer and social media platforms.
